Winchester Model 37 Red Letter - Not sure if all marked guns had red letters. I have an early model 37 12ga, 30 barrel and i have some questions about it. I think it's been done after production to increase value. If you have the same red letter model 37 stamped made in canada the going price would be $315 in fine condition. I have seen many that appeared not to have red letters, but on very close inspection, there were traces of the red paint. Model 37's remained in production until 1963.
From what i read, the only guns that should have full on the barrel are the first year guns. The model 37 in 16 ga and 410 are the most sought after. It depends on the overall condition. 28″ barrel, single bead, full choke, ejector. The red letter guns are, supposedly, worth more. They are the early guns. 28 gauge is the most sought after and most rarely seen, then the.410, then the 20 gauge and then the 16 gauge. Model 37's remained in production until 1963. The model 37 in 16 ga and 410 are the most sought after.
Basically it's a red letter, has full on the barrel, and has the standard barrel release paddle. The small bore model 37's have more value than the 12 gauge. From what i read, the only guns that should have full on the barrel are the first year guns. Here is an absolutely beautiful winchester model 37 in impossible to find.
The stamping looks complete different and is not in the receiver as deep like the others. So i bought this winchester model 37 off gunbrokers and its was sold as a 20 gauge redletter. It Depends On The Overall Condition.

So I Bought This Winchester Model 37 Off Gunbrokers And Its Was Sold As A 20 Gauge Redletter.
28″ barrel, single bead, full choke, ejector. The red letter guns are, supposedly, worth more. If it's in 70% overall original condition without any pitting or damage, a reblued will ruin any collector value it has. However, my gun doesn't have the pigtail barrel lever.
